Portugal's title has stayed inside three clubs for decades: Benfica, Porto and Sporting CP have combined for nearly every championship, and putting any of them outside the top tier is a real call. The top is tight by design here: only the top two go to the Champions League, and third and fourth take the Europa or Conference places, so the sides challenging for Europe below them make that band a genuine argument rather than a formality. The bottom follows the same shape as Germany and the Netherlands: the last two go straight down to Liga Portugal 2, and 16th plays a relegation playoff to survive, so the drop tier is a sharper call than it looks.
